Flight departure time: 8:30pm
Actual departure time: 9:30pm
It was only an hour difference, but what a difference it made! The plane was loaded with kids...many of whom were very tired by take-off. Laine decided that instead of sleep, she'd rather kick the seat in front of her! The flight went well, but we spent much of the time trying to hold her feet down to avoid dirty looks from the guy in front of her. After an hour or so, she fell asleep and dozed until landing. We didn't know how lucky we were to have arrived in Arizona until we heard the next morning that Southwest had cancelled 300+ flights (due to an incident the day before).
We got to the house well after midnight, and Laine was wide awake and ready to explore. We let her run around a bit until we decided it was time for bed.
Playtime in the pool the next morning.
Putting up with her hat, showing off her "ow."
On day four of our visit, poor Grandpa Good came down with the flu-like virus we had a few weeks before we'd left. He was out of commission and missed out on a few activities such as the Wildlife Zoo, that we'll just have to do again with him again sometime! Laine was continually asking for her Boppa and wondering where he was, and we knew his heart was breaking that he was missing time with Laine.
The next day we went to the Wildlife Zoo, where Laine enjoyed seeing all kinds of animals. Her favorites were the turtle (a new word just before we came,) and the birds and ducks. We also learned that she is definitely a Northwest Girl. She was getting rather worn out at one point, so we thought we'd hit up the aquarium area and leave. Once we got inside to the cool, dark atmosphere--she came alive again and seemed to wake up! That's our girl: she'll take the cool weather over the hot sun any day!

We made a trip to Montezuma's Castle (which we learned had nothing to do with Montezuma,) and was a nice day trip.

Getting sleepy while walking with Daddy. These cuddles are rare, and ALWAYS welcome.
Imitating the camels chewing.
A little nervous around the giraffes!
Laine's turtle (tortoise, really).
Home again and subjected to Mommy's impromptu photoshoot.
Fun times playing with the rocks. (A necessity in Laine's good time outdoors.)
Sweeping the leaves off the doormat--Grandpa Good would be proud.
One of Grandma and Grandpa's surprises: a tree tent!
We got to spend one evening with my Aunt Sherry and Uncle Max. It was great to see them--it was the second time in six months (the first being our November Arizona trip,) and we love that they can see Laine grow! Laine really warmed up to Sherry quickly and by the end of the visit she was playing a counting game on her toes with Max! (She continued to "count" her toes on her own the next few days, so he made a great impression on her.)
